Action required: Sign up to Summer Showdown Hoedown by June 13th! 🀠

AE DANCE + FITNESS

It genuinely feels like yesterday I was composing my final pre-wedding season newsletter, announcing Wild Week! But here we are 5 weeks on! And one month TO THE DAY until our next showcase - Summer Showdown Hoedown!

If last term was the soft launch, TODAY IS THE HARD LAUNCH. It is now time to sign up to SSH 2025!!! Our slightly silly, highly celebratory show 'n' social on 27 June! And it is, in fact, the first time we've all been together since SuperSleigh! The night will feature live performances from hundreds of AE Dancers, a bad ass band (you'll recognise some of the members!), line dancing workshops and ...loads of pizza!

(If you've not done a smaller show with us before, I'd recommend reading the General Info tab on this spreadsheet first).

What you need to do, when βœ…

In order to sign up to SSH 2025, there are 3 things you need to do pretty soon...

  1. Get your ticket - every dancer needs one (any left over by mid June will be on offer to family and friends). Please get your ticket by June 13th.
  2. Join the WhatsApp group - this is essential for anyone taking part in SSH (and even if you're not sure, join it so you don't miss out on any info). Please do this by June 13th.
  3. Sign up for the routines you want to perform in on the Google sheet! Please do this by June 20th.

How prep will work πŸ’ƒπŸΌ

  • The majority of classes will start their routines w/c 9th June.
  • You'll learn your routines across 3 weeks (make sure you've booked your classes!).
  • And your teacher will record a mini tutorial each class so you can practise at home.
  • If you miss one week, that's okay, just catch up at home! (Ideally you need to be in at least 2 of the 3 classes though).

Specific details for specific groups πŸͺ©

  • Fri LC will start prep on 6 June
  • Amy's Wed classes will start prep on 4 June
  • Gabbie's MT + Ballet classes will run class as normal up until w/c 23 June. Then, ahead of your final pre SSH class on Mon 23 June, you'll vote on your favourite routines from the term and repeat them in that final class (23 June). These will be your SSH routines!
  • Jazz Tech, BBF and Sweaty Mess won't do SSH routines because we're too sexy (I'm joking, it's actually because it gets a bit toooo complicated to organise with these non-routine based classes).
  • The Beginner courses also don't perform routines at SSH just to alleviate any performance pressure from your course experience. But you are TOTALLY welcome to come along as an audience member and get stuck into the party (more on this below)!

Audience tickets 🎟️

By 14th June I should have a good idea of how many many tickets we have to offer friends and family. The tickets will get them access to the show AND the big party afterwards!

I'll keep the WhatsApp group updated on audience tickets and post the link there mid June.

Not keen to perform? NO STRESS! πŸ™€

If you're not sure about performing or already know you defo don't want to/can't, please don't worry! You are still ABSOLUTELY welcome to come to class as normal in the lead up to SSH (we promise you won't feel like a spare part).

While, when prepping for a big show, the last few classes in the lead up become really 'rehearsaly' - prep for our smaller shows are much more chilled. It's literally just like normal class, however we spend a bit more time than normal on each routine (really honing in on the detail). And, in the last class before the show, we'll pop people in formations (even if you're not performing, we'll put you in the formation BECAUSE THAT IS FUN!).

If you're sort of into the idea of joining but also feel a bit scared, seriously, don't stress. See how the first couple of weeks of prep go. And if, before that final class, you want to join GO FOR IT!!! (We'll make sure we hold a couple of last minute tickets back for people in your position).

Okay, I think that's it everyone! Check lists at the ready - go sign up for Summer Showdown Hoedown 2025!!!!

See you in the studio! 😊
