Term starts Monday (plus sign up for SLEIGH! today πŸ›·)

AE DANCE + FITNESS

Hey dance fam,

Coming to you today, still smiling to myself thinking back to the giggles and triumph of the Choreo Show last week (recommended viewing). And with the sudden realisation that our next show - SLEIGH! - is 5 weeks today!

I am literally the person who books (and lives and breathes) this shit. And I was shocked by the news. Fortunately, us teachers are all organised and ready to go! And this newsletter holds all the info you need to sign up - amongst an array of other gos...

1. Term 6 starts on Monday! πŸŽ‰

Our final term of the 2025! What are you thinking? Are you feeling tempted to say 'f*** it, LIVE MORE' and explore a different class/style/teacher before the year ends? Or are you, like me, seeking comfort and familiarity - things that even just thinking about, bring a bit of brightness and warmth to your winter?

Whatever you're fancying, I would as ever, recommend booking your classes at least 2 weeks ahead of time. ESPECIALLY in the lead up to SLEIGH! where classes do book up more quickly.

2. It's time to sign up to SLEIGH! πŸ›·

  • Firstly, what is SLEIGH!?

SLEIGH! is our (mini) Christmas show 'n' social coming up on December 5th which we'll start preparing for...very soon! If you're not done a show with us before I'd recommend watching this video to give you an overview or reading the General Information page here.

  • Which groups perform at SLEIGH!?

All classes are performing except for Pointe L1, Ballet Barre Fitness, Sweaty Mess and the Beginner Courses (though these groups are VERY welcome to come watch).

  • When do rehearsals start?

It's different for each class. To find out head to this Google doc. Go to the Sign Up page. Read the orange row to see when your classes are starting their routines.

  • How can I sign up?

Signing up is a 3 step process (with deadlines - that are fast approaching!)

1.Buy your dancer ticket here (this is for everyone performing):

DEADLINE = 20 November

2. Join this Whatsapp group

DEADLINE = 20 November

3. Sign up to your routines on the Google Doc here

DEADLINE = 27 November (but the sooner you do it the better please and thank you from your dance teachers!)

  • What's the deal with audience tickets?

Us dancers take up the vast majority of the audience. But I expect we'll have about 30 tickets to sell to friends and family. And these will go on sale around the 21 Nov. We'll post all details in the SLEIGH WA group.

  • What if I can't or don't want to do SLEIGH!?

Don't stress - classes are still open (and fun!) for everyone in the lead up to SLEIGH!. The only difference is you'll be spending more time focused on nailing one routine for a couple of weeks as opposed to jumping between different things.

I would say w/c 1 Dec might be a bit boring if you're not doing SLEIGH because that's when we put routines into formation. So you might want to opt for non-SLEIGH classes that week (Sweaty Mess/Ballet Barre Fitness). But if you're not sure please just shoot us an email or ask your teacher in class and we'll advise you as each situation/class/person is so different!

Classes will return to normal w/c 8 Dec.

3. Gabbie's Winter Intensives - book your space today πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈ

Still feeling very lucky that we get to train with Gabbie in Bristol every month as her London work continues to build and flourish!

You can catch her next intensive on November 29th - book here.

And if you need something in the diary between Christmas and NYE to keep your body and brain somewhat engaged with reality, we're putting on a December Double Whammy. You'll be able to dance with Gabbie on Dec 27 and Dec 28, 10.30-12.30, at The Island. Each date focusing on a different routine (and it's 20% off if you book both).

4. All You Can Dance Day 2026 - now OPEN! 🫡🏼

YES MATE! THIS is an awesome day in the AE Dance Calendar!

It's when all the AE Dance Teachers and students (old and new) come together for one BIG DAY of dancing. We hire out the entire 1532 Performing Arts Centre and put on 40 dance classes for you to enjoy!

It's super January-budget-appropriate - you just pay Β£20 and get to choose 5 sessions to enjoy throughout the day!

You can buy your AYCD class pass here, and book your Jan 10th classes now.

5. Joseph is joining the team! πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

Many of you will recognise this stunner of a human as he's been covering classes for us for the past 2 years, teaching dance across Bristol for the last 8 and...once performed on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury!

Joseph will be taking over Amy's 7pm Wednesday Commercial class from next term, as she starts to dial things down pre mat-leave. (Amy will be heading on mat leave from January. Burlesque, L1 Tap, Sweaty Mess, you still have her until then!).

Welcome on board Joseph - in the words of Lizzie Lemon: "what a signing".

6. You can buy your merch online now! πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸ’»

We've got hoodies, t-shirts and (if you're very quick), sweaters that you can order online now (and will be delivered to you in class). We'll also be selling any remaining merch, in the studios over the next couple of weeks - keep your eyes on Insta for details of that.

Okay, I'm off to Wiltshire for a pre-term-mini-break now. I plan to eat 4 meals a day, buy jumpers I don't need and hopefully get Joe to do all the driving.

I hope your weekend is as boujie!

SENDING DANCER LOVE!

AE DANCE + FITNESS Okay I'm typing this while getting my hair done, day 1 of Christmas break (after a bloody joyous final night in the studio). And ideally I want to send it before I leave the hairdressers*. SO LET'S GO DANCERS! Gabbie's MT intensive - 27 Dec πŸ™‹πŸ»β™€οΈ While officially our next term starts on Jan 5th, we are sneaking in one final MT/Jazz workshop with Gabbie Love on Dec 27th. AE DANCE + FITNESS Throwback to our first ever show in June 2019 - a few familiar faces in there! Fantastic shorts. Terrible poses. "We currently have 3 shows on the horizon" I've never been able to say that before. 3 of our own shows - dates set, venues booked, tickets on sale (well, for 2 of the 3 at least)! I still remember the conversation at Bristol Improv Theatre, in October 2018, when I first decided "yep, I reckon we're big enough to put on your own show now". Some of you were...
